- The Beauty and Truth of Heaven
April 21, 2024 The Beauty and Truth of Heaven Sermon Series: The Church Never Preaches On... Download PDF Revelation 21:1-5 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Main Idea Heaven is another reminder that the best is yet to come Outline 1. The Heaven that there currently is. (v1) 2. The Heaven that there will be. (v2-5) Pre-Questions 1. What ways does our culture get the concept of heaven wrong? 2. What most excites you when you think of heaven? Discussion Questions 1. Who is heaven for? 2. In what ways did this sermon challenge your view of Heaven? 3. How does Hebrews 12:22–25 connect to Revelation 21:1-5? 4. How is heaven a real future place and a real current reality? Read Ephesians 2:4–6 and discuss.

- Spiritual Doubt vs. Faith and Salvation
March 10, 2024 Spiritual Doubt vs. Faith and Salvation Sermon Series: Withstand Download PDF Ephesians 6:16-17a In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, Main Idea Don't wait for the devil to attack to get dressed in God's armor Outline 1. Faith isn't for passivity, it's for activity 2. Salvation isn't for insurance, its for assurance Pre-Questions 1. How does this passage of scripture - and the sermon preached from it - challenge your worldview? 2. During this series how have you seen God move in your life? Discussion Questions 1. The consistency of spiritual warfare can vary. How might this inconsistency lead us to "leave our armor at home"? Discuss how we can remain vigilant and equipped with the Armor of God in our daily lives. 2. Reflect on areas of your life where you might be passive in your faith. What steps can you take to become more actively engaged in your spiritual journey? 3. Read 1 John 5:4–5. How does this passage inspire us to overcome the world through our faith? Share personal experiences where your faith has helped you overcome challenges. 4. Discuss how viewing salvation merely as an entrance fee can limit our spiritual growth. What practices can help us deepen our relationship with God and grow beyond just meeting the minimum requirements of faith? 5. While justified by faith, we're called to 'work out our salvation with fear and trembling' (Philippians 2:12). How can we balance the assurance of being saved by grace with the ongoing process of sanctification, especially when we know we aren't perfect?

- Yes and Amen to the Promise of Mercy
March 24, 2024 Yes and Amen to the Promise of Mercy Sermon Series: Always Yes Download PDF Matthew 20:29-34 29 And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him. 30 And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 31 The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 32 And stopping, Jesus called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” 33 They said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” 34 And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him. Main Idea Jesus, our triumphant king, is God's yes and amen to the promise of mercy Outline 1. Broken or blinded by sin we need to see our need for mercy (29-30) 2. Rejected or reviled by people we still need to seek the mercy of Jesus (31) 3. Busy or burdened to mission, Jesus will stop to show us mercy (32-34) Pre-Questions 1. What questions do you have when you, either heard this message and/or read this passage? 2. How do you celebrate Holy Week? What does it mean to you and your family? Discussion Questions 1. In which areas of your life do you think sin blinds you? (If you're not sure ask your spouse or a close friend) 2. In Matthew 20:30 & 31 the blind men call out to the Son of David. What is the significance of this (read 2 Samuel 7)? 3. Our world tells us that we're not "blind," and that we're good. Like the crowds, when the world tries to silence us, what should be our response? 4. In this passage we see that God isn't too busy for the blind men. With what thing - this week - do you need to trust that God isn't too buys for you?
- Hell, the Occult, & the Demonic
April 28, 2024 Hell, the Occult, & the Demonic Sermon Series: The Church Never Preaches On... Download PDF Matthew 25:41-46 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Main Idea Hell is the ultimate horror, reminding us that our actions really do matter. Outline 1. ...because the judge is Jesus Christ. (v41-45) 2. ...because the punishment is eternal. (v46) Pre-Questions 1. What's a way that the world talks about Hell, that isn't true? 2. The topic of Hell can be uncomfortable. Why do you think that is? Discussion Questions 1. How does Matthew 10:28–33 help our perspective? 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. 2. Read Revelation 20:10. Even though the image of the lake of fire is most likely imagery, what does this tell us about Hell? 3. Can you be a Christian and deny the existence of Hell? Why not? 4. How does God's act of pouring out his wrath - on sin and sinners - point us to the Gospel? How does this direct us to worship?
- An Overview of the End Times
May 19, 2024 An Overview of the End Times Sermon Series: The Church Never Preaches On... Download PDF Mark 13:32-37 “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” Main Idea Christ has announced He will return, so we need to be prepared. Outline 1. We don't know when it will happen, so we must stand guard. (vv32-33) 2. We don't know when the King will return, so we must stay awake. (vv34-37) Pre-Questions 1. Before we start, take a moment to humble yourself when we start talking about end times. This topic can be divisive. Our goal in this discussion isn't to leave with a perfectly mapped-out picture of the way end times will be played out. Love your fellow community group members and seek to worship together in unity. Discussion Questions 1. When the bible talks about end times, what kind of literature is that? (Hint: it has to do with the word apocalypse) What kind of language is used in apocalyptic literature (literal or metaphorical)? 2. Read Isaiah 11:6–9. How does this help us understand this topic? How is this a reversal of the fall? 3. Read Revelation 11:15–19. How does this help us find comfort and encouragement?
- What Do I Do With My Guilt?
May 26, 2024 What Do I Do With My Guilt? Sermon Series: What Do I Do With My Guilt? Download PDF Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Main Idea God had to treat Jesus like us to treat us like Jesus Outline 1. Where does guilt come from? 2. What can we do with our guilt? 3. What was done for our guilt? Pre-Questions 1. What challenged you the most from this message? 2. Why do you think guilt and shame are hard topics to address as Christians? Discussion Questions 1. What is your "go-to" way of avoiding guilt (deny, distract, become numb)? 2. Read 2 Corinthians 7:9-13. How does this passage help us understand guilt? 3. How should guilt draw us closer to God? 4. How will you allow substitution to invade your life?
- Meet The Pastors | Peace Church
Meet The Pastors Have you met your pastors yet? Let’s fix that! Meet the Pastors is an event where you’ll hang out with the pastors at Peace Church. Knowing who’s leading you spiritually should be one of the most important factors in finding a place to worship. Come bring your family, eat lunch, ask questions, and discover why so many people gather here each week. Baptism We believe that Jesus has commanded all those who are His to be baptized with pure water "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19). This sacrament signifies our reception into the Church of God, which separates us from all other religions and dedicates us wholly to Him (Galatians 3:27). Yet, we deny that baptism is necessary for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9; Luke 23:42-43, Romans 3:28, Romans 4:5, Galatians 2:16, Titus 3:5). We believe and confess that Jesus Christ, by His sacrificial death and the shedding of His blood, has fulfilled and abolished the old covenant practice of circumcision, instituting instead the sacrament of baptism (Colossians 2:11-12). Therefore, we believe in the baptism of infants, as it aligns with the biblical precedent of including children in the covenant community, much like the practice of circumcision under the old covenant (Genesis 17:10-12; Acts 2:38-39). Christ's redemptive work extends to the children of believers, and they, too, should receive the sign and sacrament of baptism, affirming that Jesus shed His blood for them as well (Luke 18:15-17; Acts 16:31-33). This practice underscores the continuity of God’s covenant promises, ensuring that our children are marked by the covenant from the earliest moments of their lives (Acts 16:15, 33; 1 Corinthians 7:14). We hold firmly that this sacrament, once administered, is sufficient for the entirety of one's life, symbolizing both our initiation into the faith and God's enduring grace towards us (Ephesians 4:5; Romans 6:3-4).
