Peace Church, located just south of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a vibrant community of believers dedicated to spreading the gospel and serving the needs of our congregation and the wider community. Founded in 1965 as an RCA church, Peace Church has since transitioned to a non-denominational congregation. Our theological roots are deeply Reformed, and we pride ourselves on being conservative and gospel-centered in our teachings and practices.

Peace Church is seeking a part-time Nursery Coordinator to help lead Sunday morning ministry for kids 0-4 years old. The Nursery Coordinator leads a large, exciting and biblically rich ministry to kids each Sunday and equips volunteer teachers and leaders.
A fitting candidate will have a deep love for Jesus, a love for the beliefs, vision and kids of Peace Church. They will be passionate about teaching biblical truth to kids and be capable of equipping other teachers and leaders. By leading the nursery ministry, this position develops the next generation of believers.
Peace Church loves the gospel, desires to be faithful to God’s Word, seeks to develop leaders, and is passionate about reaching families. Peace is a growing church located just south of Grand Rapids, Michigan in a rapidly growing area. Average Sunday worship attendance is around 2,000.

Qualifications

1. Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with Peace Church's statements of faith.
2. Actively support the mission, vision, and leadership of Peace Church.
3. Humble, Hungry, and People-Smart (see Patrick Lencioni, The Ideal Team Player).
4. Able to work within the organizational structure of Peace Church.
5. Able to represent Peace Church professionally and graciously.
6. Able to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and using technology.
7. Able to independently organize, plan, and execute recurring or periodic projects and tasks
within a deadline.
8. Able to independently follow up on details/tasks and manage many details/tasks, while
keeping the big picture in mind.
9. Able to effectively operate software such as Microsoft/Apple office suite, Planning Center
Online, and Asana.
10. Able to manage time well.
11. Able to solve problems.
12. Flexible and adaptable.
13. Model of hospitality.
14. Able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  1. Works with the Kids Ministry Director in leading volunteers through:
    a. Recruitment: always seeking to find passionate volunteers
    b. Training: train with a ministry and discipleship mindset
    c. Retention
    d. Appreciation
    e. Communication: communicate weekly about schedules and curriculum
    f. Schedule and ensure volunteers follow through with their commitments.

  2. Preparing and implementing curriculum for 0–4-year-olds
    a. Prepare curriculum ahead of time
    b. Stock rooms with required supplies
    c. Be present on Sundays to help ensure the curriculum is implemented
    d. Work with IT department to ensure technology is running smoothly

  3. Available days to work
    a. Sunday mornings
    b. Tuesday mornings (Staff Chapel)
    c. Thursday mornings (During Women’s Bible Study)
    d. Special worship services and/or events (i.e. Easter, Christmas Eve, VBS)

Professional Expectations

1. Participate as a team member in the Peace Staff, attending staff chapel,
retreats, meetings, etc.
2. Participate in the life of Peace Church, attending worship and essential
events.
3. Should be or become a member of Peace Church.
4. Exhibit character consistent with a follower of Jesus in a church leadership
role.
