What translation of the Bible should I read?
At Peace Church we use the ESV, which is a great translation. We would also recommend the NIV, New King James, and the New Living Translation.
What book of the Bible should I read first?
The Gospel of John is a good place to start. We can give you lots of resources to navigate Scripture.
Why Is Church Important?
God created us to be in community. We need other people to keep us accountable, to help us learn, and grow in our new life in Christ. God also told us it is important. (Acts 2:42 – 47, Hebrews 10:25)
Should I get baptized?
If you have never been baptized, yes. If you grew up in a Christian tradition and were baptized as an infant, no. Of course, this is the short answer to a much longer question – if you need more information, please talk to one of our pastors!
How do I pray?
Prayer is talking to God. In prayer we thank God for all the blessings He has given us, ask for help in living a life that pleasing to Him, confess our sins, pray for others who need salvation or are sick. A great way to learn how to pray better is to get together with other Christians and pray with them.
What happens if I sin?
Jesus dies for all of your sins before and after salvation. (Ephesians 2:8,9)
How do I tell my family and friends about Jesus and salvation?
- We have all sinned (Romans 3:23)
- We earned the wage of death, but Jesus died on the cross for our sins so we can have the gift of eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 6:23)
- We need to turn away from our sin and turn to Jesus, asking for forgiveness in faith knowing that His death on the cross paid the penalty for our sins and that His resurrection points to our hope of eternal life with Jesus. (Romans 10:8 – 13; Ephesians 2:1 – 10)
